Top Ten Sewing Resolutions for 2014

Every year I dutifully make a list of things I want to accomplish in the upcoming year.  Sometimes those things run into next year’s list but many of them actually get done. I attribute this to the theory that ‘if it isn’t written, it isn’t real.’  A few of my personal resolutions are to cook healthier meals, make a few jackets and finish a Lemoyne Star quilt that I’ve started.  The Lemoyne Star quilt is being made with a ruler designed by Deb Tucker and I love the way it makes this design so much easier than the traditional inset seam. It has been very rewarding to stretch my abilities!

If you haven’t thought about your own New Year’s Resolutions I have a list to pick and choose from to help get you started.

#1          Finish UFO’s
#2           Learn new skills, techniques
#3           Take classes
#4           Clean and organize your sewing space
#5           Attend a sewing class monthly
#6           Sew something for my spouse, grandchild, favorite person
#7           Step out of my comfort zone when it comes to color or type of fabric
#8           Invest in top quality fabrics
#9           Sew a garment for myself
#10         Learn how to sew a new fabric, perhaps silk, organza, Minkee, Cuddle
#11         Make sewing friends
#12         Use my stash
#13         Start Christmas gifts earlier
#14        Make a garment
#15        Sew something for myself

The Prairie Quilt staff’s resolutions range from finishing UFO’s, losing weight, running a 10k race and cooking healthier.  If you are working towards a goal in 2014 I suggest you watch this video of Diane Nyad. It may inspire you just as it did us, that our goals ARE achievable if we just put continual effort toward them.
