I am definitely an early riser. Today I was at the shop at 6:30 am, preparing for our annual Sweatin' with Santa event and the Bust Your Stash class. I am making lunch for Bust Your Stash and a million cookies for Sweatin' with Santa. I am well aware that I could get a caterer or buy something at the store to serve for both of these events but it just doesn't seem right to invite guests and then give them a cookie from the grocery store. So there I was on a most incredible morning doing one of my favorite things, cooking. The temperature was only 63 degrees, and it was August 20th! It was beautiful out and I decided to take advantage of it, I opened the door to the patio that is right beside the kitchen at our Creativity Center and began measuring, sifting, mixing. I was in heaven, alone on a beautiful morning making batch after batch of Peppermint and Snickerdoodle cookies. Later in the day my friend Kolleen came and helped make eight strawberry pies. Still a lot of preparation to do tomorrow, I hope the morning is as stunning as today's, I will have that door open for sure.
I have felt this wonderful zen feeling before, sometimes when I sew everything is just right, seams go together and I don't have to use a ripper. I can sew for hours and have no idea that the time has flown by.
I appreciate taking the time for the little things in life; beautiful mornings, making food with love for my friends who will be come soon, and of course, sharing the love of sewing.
