At our most recent retreat I asked some of the ladies this probing question, "If I was a fairy godmother, what wish would you want me to fulfill in regards to sewing?" Have you guessed? It was to reduce their stash. Your wish is my command ladies! On Friday, August 21st ,Penny Haren, a designer of Creative Grids, will be coming to Prairie Quilt in Hennessey, OK to show us some of the many uses for rulers, many of the rulers you may already have. She is going to be bringing a trunk show of quilts to inspire you, afterward she will teach a class showing you how to use the Creative Grids rulers - and help you to clean up some of your own stash that you will bring to the event. As our wall of rulers grows at the shop, more and more of them are the Creative Grid brand. They offer three things that no other ruler has; embedded gripper dots, easy to read black and white markings and a turn-a-round feature. This creates accuracy, clarity and a non-slip ruler. If you have older rulers, these will really make you smile the first time you use them. Another thing I love about these rulers is that they have a QR code. In case you don't know what a QR Code is, ask your grand kids. QR is short for Quick Response and can be read quickly by a cell phone. They are used to take a piece of information and divert you to a website. Creative Grids use these on every ruler, a QR code that you can scan with your phone and magically the information appears on the screen about the ruler, videos of how to use it, and written instructions for that particular ruler. If you have a smart phone or i pad download a QR application. Again, this is where those grand kids come in handy, and give it a try. I have included the link to the Creative Grids website. http://www.creativegridsusa.com/ While I was at a guild presentation recently, one of the ladies announced. "I am not buying anymore rulers. I have a ton of them at home and don't need another one." When she left she was happily carrying two of the Creative Grids Rulers with her. What happened? She found multiple ways to use just a few rulers to save her time and to make her cutting more accurate. During class Penny is going to let you use her rulers so you will not need to bring yours! It has always been a desire for me to know and learn the practice of quilting. I admit that I am not into sewing. The last time I did this was when I was still a grade school student since it was part of my school requirements. If getting rid of the stash is a huge thing for everyone, then this should be celebrated! I am happy to see that you are making a progress and everyone is happy with everything that we get. I believe that making everything easier can be achieved as long as we have the willingness to make it possible.
