By definition a “Precut” in the sewing world is a piece of fabric cut to a specific shape or size beforebeing assembled. Just like the rotary cutter changed how quilters worked, so has precuts. Jelly Rolls are a popular precut, cut the width of the fabric which is between 40″ to 44″ and then cut into 2 1/2″ strips, these allow you to start sewing immediately, without laboring over cutting beforehand. The amount of fabric in a jelly roll is 2 3/4 yards, hard to believe that much fabric is in that tiny roll!
